RE: The tariff classification of Indomethacin (CAS No. 53-86-1) in bulk powder form, from Brazil
Dear Ms. Heerdt:
In your letter dated December 16, 2020, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
Indomethacin (also known as Indometacin) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate acute pain in adults.
The applicable subheading for the Indomethacin in bulk powder form will be 2933.99.5590, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen hetero-atom(s) only: Other: Other: Aromatic or modified aromatic: Other: Drugs: Drugs primarily affecting the central nervous system: Analgesics, antipyretics and nonhormonal anti-inflammatory agents: Other.” Pursuant to General Note 13, HTSUS, the rate of duty will be free.
